Virat Kohli captioned the Instagram post, “Make excuses or try to improve”
Trust Virat Kohli to leave no stone unturned when it comes to giving us fitness goals. The same was visible when the cricketer shared some snippets of his intense training session recently.
Look.
I share a couple of videos of Force A workout that includes exercises like a weighted reverse lunge and a plate press side lunge and a mirror selfie, Kohli wrote, make excuses or try to get better.

The knee-weighted reverse lunge, which Kohli can see you do, primarily works your quads, hamstrings, glutes and hip flexors, said Varun Rattan, co-founder of The Body Science Academy. This exercise can improve your running stride. The guide knee requires you to stabilize your body on one leg. This can translate into better balance and coordination, Rattan said.
THE side lunge with the plate press it engages nearly every major muscle in the body, primarily the glutes, legs, core and shoulders, Rattan informed. This exercise also helps improve stability and lateral movement. The side lunge trains your body to move side to side, which is required in most sports. It improves functional fitness by facilitating daily movement, he said.
This isn’t the first time Kohli can be seen lifting weights at the gym.
Earlier, Kohli shared a video, captured by teammate Surya Kumar Yadav, of him lifting weights at the gym. Mobility is key, he captioned.
In the video, he can be seen doing snatch push presses and overhead squats.
Here’s why you should do strength training
Lifting heavy weights makes the body more sensitive to insulin (meaning the body is better able to use sugars and carbohydrates for fuel), fitness instructor Shwetambari Shetty said in a previous interaction, noting thatweightliftingit is also the best way to increase testosterone.
She added that weight lifting also helps strengthen the bodymetabolism. Lifting causes an increase in the body’s resting metabolic rate—the rate at which it burns calories when you do nothing for hours after your workout—which helps burn fat better, shared Shetty.
